'Cherchez La Femme' (French for Seek the woman) is a song that was written and performed by Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band with lead vocals by Cory Daye in 1976. The music was written by band-leader and pianist Stony Browder Jr. and John Schonberger, Richard Coburn (né Frank Reginald DeLong; 1886–1952), and Vincent Rose; with lyrics by Browder Jr.'s brother and bassist August Darnell. The song's full title is 'Whispering'/'Cherchez La Femme'/'Se Si Bon' [sic]. 'Cherchez La Femme' became the group's biggest hit.
The song's opening lyric is notable in itself as it makes a reference to record executive Tommy Mottola, who was instrumental in giving the act their major label deal. Along with the tracks 'Sour and Sweet' and 'I'll Play the Fool', 'Cherchez La Femme' went to #1 on the disco chart.[1] 'Cherchez La Femme' also charted on the pop, R&B, and Adult Contemporary charts.

Critical reception[edit]
Phil Shanklin of ReviewsRevues wrote in his review of the Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me album, that it is 'a brave move' to cover the song. He added, 'Gloria’ s vocal lacks the playful coquettishness of Cory Daye’s but it is great to hear it again amongst her selections of songs.'[6]

(Foremost Remaster)
For some of us, 1975 wasn't that long ago. For me, I wasn't in the crib, but I was in front of the TV watching Schoolhouse Rock. In this time period, songs were filled with great writing skills everywhere. Every subject was a lesson, every song was a story, and every drum had a message.
With August Darnell, Corey Daye, Stony Browder, Coati Mundi, Mickey Sevilla, Don Bonilla & Charles Calello - these guys made the smallest clock radio in the house sound like the biggest boombox in the house. Songs like these are the source of why I started making music in the first place. Songs like these push poetry out of the realm of boredom for the common man; and a circus solei for anyone with a lesson to teach. That's why I Remastered this album over again.
It was recorded at 'The House of Music Studios' in West Orange, New Jersey, but Mastered at RCA Records for a soft 'Lawrence Welk' audience; and not for the Booming Disco Techs of the time.
It always deserved that legendary 'RICHARD LONG TREATMENT,' and now it's DONE! I am eternally grateful for them displaying their awesome storytelling abilities - not to mention reminding us that Jazz & Be-bop never dies.

'Leroy Burgess' is right. 'In an era of formulaic, run-of-the-mill, repetitive Disco, it was an absolute breath of Fresh Air; and it still is.' From the 'Vocals' to the 'Artwork,' if great music is gonna be pushed to the forefront again, Albums like this prove you don't have to reinvent the wheel.

Chronic poverty creates an atmosphere full of negativity, frustration, hopelessness, depression, alcoholism, drug abuse, crime, and violence. These are some of conditions that plague the Black Community which is dealing with extreme generational poverty. As we begin to gain social and economic equality it is our duty to clean up ourselves and our community. This contract is a 2-way street. As we gain social and economic equality, we must begin to dissolve any bitterness in our hearts for past wrongs. We must become better citizens who are more productive on all levels of American society. We really must step up after we pass the Contract with Black America with no more excuses left in the kiddie. (Foremost Poets Remix)
It’s a beautiful interpretation of Nina Simone’s powerful civil rights anthem, worryingly the song is as poignant now as it was over fifty years ago and the words simply speak for themselves. It’s the first taste of her forthcoming debut album Black Acid Soul, which was produced by Chris Seefried. The LP also features a stellar band including former Miles Davis pianist Deron Johnson. Lady Blackbird: “Being in the legendary Studio B, (Prince’s room), in Sunset Sound with my band and my producer Chris Seefried was a ground-breaking moment for me as an artist.
Cherchez Le Don And Smokin' Corey Feldman
It helped me find a way to express who I am now and marked the re-birth of me as Lady Blackbird.”An old revolutionary song fittingly re-imagined for these troubling times, the time for political and social change is now!
